The intent of the Center is to enhance students' opportunities to succeed in school by assisting children, youth and families in meeting some of their basic needs. This is done by providing community services at the centers or by linking families to agencies in their communities. In order for a school to have a FRYSC, there has to be at least 20% eligible for free lunch.
All children and families enrolled in HMMS or RES can use its services, regardless of family income.
Here are some of the services that we provide:
Referrals for full-time preschool child-care, referrals for after-school child care, referrals for health and eduction services for new and expectant parents, parenting education and referrals, referrals for medical, dental, and vision, counseling referrals, counseling groups, clothing closet, clothing giveaways, peer mediation, reality fair, health/safety fairs, family nights, GED information and referral, health classes, service projects, alcohol and drug prevention, newsletters, school supplies, lending library, and holiday assistance.
We also accept donations of food, clothing, school supplies, furniture, and appliances. You may donate directly to Goodwill and ask them to credit our account. This enables us to give families' vouchers for clothing and other items.
